Tisha Campbell-Martin has filed for a divorce to her husband of 20 years, Duane, Martin, also requesting spousal support in the documents.
The 49-year-old “Martin” actress filed divorce documents in Los Angeles court on Thursday. Tisha is asking for spousal support as well as physical and legal custody of their sons Xen, 16; and Ezekiel, 8.
Campbell-Martin reportedly separated from the 52-year-old Daytime Emmy nominee in December 2016.
The actress announced the news of her divorce, also requesting privacy.
“After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to announce that I’ve filed for divorce,” Tisha said in a statement. “It’s an emotional time and I graciously ask for privacy for me, our children and the rest of our family.”
The news of Campbell-Martin’s divorce comes on the heels of the news that the actress will rejoin forces with Martin Lawrence, her former “Martin” co-star for the first time in 20 years. Lawrence, Campbell-Martin, and actress Tichina Arnold were seen outside a Burbank Morton’s Steakhouse last month.
The trio talked with paparazzi about the rumors of their former sitcom returning to television. Martin, 52, told TMZ, “Never say never.”
He adds that “we don’t know nothing right now, but never say never.”
ichina, 48, also chimed in, saying, “Well, within life, there’s always new beginnings, and there’s always change, and there’s always new plateaus where we have to reach, so we’ll see what’s happening.”
Fans may recall that the original series that ended in 1997, came with plenty of scandal. Tisha actually filed a lawsuit against her co-star, Martin Lawrence. <<<yupppp we remember that!!
Tisha accused Martin of sexual harassment and abuse and walked off the set of the show. She later returned, but refused to film scenes with Lawrence.
Martin, who previously insisted he was innocent of the allegations, has obviously made peace with Tisha.
During their interview with TMZ, former “Martin” stars discussed the potential revival of the sitcom, which aired from 1992 to 1997.
Lawrence said, “Well, I don’t think we have to do it the same way. I just think we have to be funny and we have to be entertaining and give people heartfelt stories.”
Tisha added, “And the truth.” She was asked what that meant, replying, “I think, evolution. Evolution, you know? It’s still gonna be fun.”
The stars were asked if the sitcom would be political this time around, with Tisha responding, “Why are you asking all this – didn’t we just tell you, what – that we don’t know?”
In the words of Ice Cube, today was a good day With @tishacampbellmartin & @tichinaarnold
Tichina said, “We would definitely wanna be current. You know, we’re not trying to relive anything. We wanna give credence to the past, and to show how the past has evolved, and made us who we are.”
