Family Megachurch Drama From Lionsgate TV Featuring Oprah Winfrey’s Return to Acting on Television Debuts with Two-Night Premiere on June 21 and 22
Created by Emmy-nominated Writer/Producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” “Brothers and Sisters”), the Series Stars Merle Dandridge and Emmy-winning Actors Lynn Whitfield and Keith David.
Los Angeles – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network unveiled today a first look at its new original drama series “Greenleaf” from Lionsgate TV and Emmy-nominated writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” “Brothers and Sisters”).  Featuring Oprah Winfrey’s first recurring scripted television role in two decades, the family drama set against the backdrop of a sprawling Memphis megachurch will launch with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, June 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, June 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.  The series will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT for the remainder of its 13-episode first season.
“Greenleaf” centers on the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, “The Night Shift”) who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith.  As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David, “Enlisted” and “Community”) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.
In the season premiere, directed by executive producer Clement Virgo (“The Book of Negroes”), Grace and her teenage daughter Sophia (Desiree Ross, “Falling Skies”) are warmly welcomed home by Grace’s father, Bishop Greenleaf. Sparked by Grace’s return to Memphis, tensions quickly rise. At a family dinner in the Greenleaf mansion, Grace’s mother is cold and hostile. Her sister-in-law Kerissa (Kim Hawthorne, “Rake”) questions her about her faith and sister Charity (Deborah Joy Winans, “Whitney”) erupts with jealousy at the suggestion that Grace might start preaching at Calvary.

(LOS ANGELES) – March 2016 – Tyler Perry’s hit drama series “If Loving You is Wrong” will premiere on OWN with all-new episodes on Tuesday, March 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT following the season finale of “The Haves and the Have Nots” (9-10 p.m. ET/PT).  The series will move to its regular timeslot at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Tuesday, March 22.

In its most recent season, “If Loving You is Wrong” was Tuesday night’s #1 original cable series among women averaging 2.3 million total viewers.  It was also Tuesday night’s #1 original series on all of TV among African-American women and total viewers.
In the season premiere of “If Loving You is Wrong,” tensions are at an all time high amongst friends and neighbors, now turned foes.  Viewers’ suspicions were confirmed when it was revealed that Alex’s (Amanda Clayton) baby is the product of her affair with neighbor Randal (Eltony Williams).  The arrival of the baby ignites a cycle of revenge that will continue throughout the season — angry husband Brad (Aiden Turner) lashes out at Alex by initiating his own extramarital relationship with Randal’s wife Marcie (Heather Hemmens); and adulterous Randal fights with wife Marcie, while planning his own acts of revenge against Brad.  Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Esperanza (Zulay Henao) learns of ex Edward’s (Joel Rush) dealings with drug dealers as Edward sets into motion his plan to have killed fellow police officer, Pete (Chris Pipkin).
As the new season unfolds, Randal continues to exact his revenge; Alex endures the wrath of her racist father and the custody of her baby is questioned; and after keeping a deep secret for years, Lushion (Charles “Malik” Whitfield) makes a starting revelation to Natalie (April Parker Jones). Meanwhile, Kelly (Edwina Findley Dickerson) continues her search for love and unusual circumstances once again bring Edward and Julian (Octavio Pizano) face-to-face.
If Loving You is Wrong” is created, written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry and is produced for OWN by Tyler Perry Studios.

With the 2016 Presidential Election looming, Atlanta culture progressives, Xavier Peoples (Co-Owner of M Bar) andJason “J. Have you heard of Investigation Discovery’s “HATE IN AMERICA”?

–SPLC’s Intelligence Report Finds That Amid Year of Lethal Violence, Extremist Groups Expanded Ranks in 2015—

Hosted by Tony Harris, the First Installment of New Series Premieres Monday, February 29 at 8/7c, Only on ID—

(Silver Spring, Md.) – Investigation Discovery (ID) and Emmy Award-winning journalist Tony Harris are teaming up once again with premiere civil rights advocacy organization, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), to produce HATE IN AMERICA, a new documentary strand that showcases the SPLC’s efforts to combat bigotry and hate groups in the United States. The mission of the SPLC and its legendary founder, Morris Dees, are to combat the hate, intolerance and discrimination perpetuated by these groups through education, litigation and advocacy. According to the SPLC’s 2015 Intelligence Report released yesterday, the number of extremist groups operating domestically grew by 14% from 2014, and the SPLC catalogued an astounding 892 hate groups in the US, including neo-Nazis, white nationalists, black separatists, Klansmen and other groups that target the LGBT community. Produced by NBC News’ award-winning production arm Peacock Productions, the documentary series HATE IN AMERICA kicks off with its first premiere on Monday, February 29 at 8/7c, showcasing the SPLC’s remarkable strides to fight organized hate over the past four decades.

In the first episode of HATE IN AMERICA, titled The Klan on Trial, Harris explores some of the SPLC’s most riveting court cases, starting with the Michael Donald case – a heinous lynching of a young man in the early 1980s that prompted SPLC founder Morris Dees to sue the United Klans of America (UKA) on behalf of the victim’s mother. In this landmark court decision, the UKA’s violent leadership was held responsible for the unspeakably violent and racist acts of its members, helping to turn the tide against organized hate in our country. Harris also digs deep into the deeds of notorious white supremacist murderer Glenn Miller, who most recently made national headlines when he went on a shooting spree at a Kansas Jewish Community Center in April 2014.

The first episode of HATE IN AMERICAThe Klan on Trial premiered on Monday, February 29 at 8/7c on Investigation Discovery, with subsequent premieres airing throughout 2016. Additional episode descriptions are below:

In this episode of HATE IN AMERICA, Harris investigates the rise of the lone wolf, revealing startling information about the dramatic increase of this deadly threat. Over the last six years alone, there have been more than 60 incidents of domestic terrorism planned by “lone wolf” attackers or pairs. That averages out to one incident every 34 days. Harris travels the country to investigate three distinct lone wolf attacks, delving into the psychology of the twisted minds of the shooters, including an anti-Semitic attack at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2009, the ambush of two police officers and a bystander by anti-government extremists in Las Vegas in 2014, and the 2015 massacre by a white supremacist at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

The 58th annual GRAMMY AWARDS hit the Staples Center in Los Angeles 2/15/16 and bot was it awesome. It was a lot going on, and this year’s grammy was nothing short of entertainment! For more than three-and-a-half hours of musical mayhem. Taylor Swift opened the show with “Out of the Woods”; from there, things quickly jumped from hip-hop (Best Rap Album, where KENDRICK LAMAR grabbed the night’s first award- who also took home 5 GRAMMY’S- YES!!  How cool was that, presented by Ice Cube and his son, followed by a lovely duet from American Idol’s Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt.

The first non-genre prize, Song of the Year, went to Ed Sheeran and co-writer Amy Wadge for “Thinking Out Loud” (Swift, also nominated, was psyched out of her mind). Stevie Wonder did the honors, flipping open the envelope and teasing the crowd that only a Braille-speaker would be able to read it. That was so funny!

Taking home the rest of the biggies were T-Swift’s 1989 for Album of the Year, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk” for Record of the Year and Meghan Taylor, who tearfully gave such an emotional speech while accepting her Best New Artist award.

Live collaborations characterized much of the night; in addition to Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt’s, you had: Justin Bieber, Diplo and Skrillex; Demi Lovato, Tyrese, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan teaming up to honor Lionel Richie (who himself popped up for a bit); Pentatonix joining Stevie Wonder for some a cappella fun; Jackson Browne and The Eagles remembering  Glen Frey; Tori Kelly and James strumming along with each other; Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark Jr. and Bonnie Raitt paying homage to B.B. King; Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry reminding us they’re in a supergroup the Hollywood Vampires; and Pitbull, Travis Barker and Robin Thicke closed out with some help from actress Sofía Vergara. We cannot forget about last but certainly not least Lady Gaga’s performance and tribute to David Bowie. Hold up tho! Why didn’t the Grammy’s go in for NATALIE COLE? They Mentioned her, but no dedication. They could have had Jennifer Hudson, and some other folks do something that wasn’t right.. We just saying…..

OWN Orders Additional Episodes of “Livin’ Lozada” and “Flex & Shanice”

Photos courtesy of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
Los Angeles, CA – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it has ordered eight additional episodes of the network’s popular Saturday night freshman docu-series “Livin’ Lozada” featuring reality star Evelyn Lozada and a new eight-episode second season of “Flex & Shanice” following the lives of husband and wife celebrity duo Flex Alexander and Shanice.  The series’ new episodes will premiere later this year.
The premiere season of “Livin’ Lozada” (7/11/15 – 8/29/15) brought younger viewers to the network and was the highest-rated freshman season ever for an OWN docu-series for women 18-49.  The second cycle of “Flex & Shanice” (7/11/15 – 8/29/15) was up +22% in women 25-54 versus its premiere cycle.  In addition, the recent finales of “Flex & Shanice (0.89) and “Livin Lozada” (0.86) on August 29 ranked as the top two unscripted season finales in OWN history for women 25-54.  The series also helped OWN finish 2015 as Saturday night’s #2 network on all of television for African-American women.
About “Livin’ Lozada”
“Livin’ Lozada” follows the lives of reality star Evelyn Lozada, of “Basketball Wives” fame, and her 22-year-old daughter Shaniece.  The series will return this spring with new drama and a whole new setting. Now that baseball season has ended, Evelyn and her fiancé, LA Dodgers star Carl Crawford, leave the glitz of Hollywood for their offseason home in Arizona. As the big 4-0 approaches, Evelyn feels more pressure than ever about conceiving a child and giving her young son, Leo, another sibling. Meanwhile, Shaniece is blazing her own career path, working to step out from her mother’s shadow in the fast-paced world of modeling.  Despite Shaniece’s excitement over her budding career, she finds herself missing her mother and best friend who is now so far away.  “Livin’ Lozada” is produced by Shed Media (part of the unscripted/alternative television department at Warner Bros.), with Pam Healey, John Hesling, Lisa Shannon, Russ Heldt and Evelyn Lozada as executive producers.
About “Flex & Shanice”
“Flex & Shanice” follows the lives of husband and wife duo, actor Flex Alexander (“One on One”), and Grammy-nominated singer Shanice (“I Love Your Smile”). From the outside looking in, Flex and Shanice are living the dream: they are beautiful celebrities with a long-standing marriage, gorgeous kids and a lovely home in suburbia. But five years ago when they were struggling financially, they invited their hilarious extended family to move in to help make ends meet and they have never moved out. And while this may give Flex and Shanice the support staff they need as they both focus on making professional comebacks, nine people under one roof can add just as much stress as it relieves.  Flex and Shanice are working hard to reinvent their careers, and trying to hold it together long enough to capture that one big break before it’s time to chase another dream.  “Flex & Shanice” is produced by Lynch-Dyson Entertainment. Executive producers are Jeff Dyson, Vernon Lynch and Robert Caplain.

Los Angeles – The new original series “Greenleaf,” featuring Oprah Winfrey’s first recurring scripted television role in two decades, will launch with a two-night premiere on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, May 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The megachurch drama from Emmy nominated writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under”) and Lionsgate Television will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m.

In the season premiere, directed by Clement Virgo (“Book of Negroes”), Grace and her teenage daughter Sophia (Desiree Ross, “Falling Skies”) are warmly welcomed home by Grace’s father, Bishop James Greenleaf, but tensions quickly rise soon thereafter at a family dinner in the Greenleaf mansion. Grace’s mother is cold and hostile; her sister-in-law Kerissa (Kim Hawthorne, “Rake”) questions her about her faith; and sister Charity (Deborah Joy Winans, “Whitney”) erupts with jealousy at the suggestion that Grace might preach at Calvary.

Later, blues club owner and Grace’s aunt Mavis (Oprah Winfrey, “Selma”) discuss the circumstances of Faith’s death and Mavis reveals some shocking information about Grace’s uncle “Mac” (Gregory Alan Williams, “Terminator Genisys”). Mavis is still estranged from the Greenleaf family and it starts to become evident that she intends to use Grace to sow the seeds of its destruction.

About “Greenleaf”
The new original drama series “Greenleaf” from award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under”) takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Like so many megachurches in America, Calvary Fellowship World Ministries is more than just a house of worship. It’s a home. It’s the center of the community for the thousands of predominantly African-American members who attend services there. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity — greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values — a multigenerational matrix of deception that involves the church’s founding family, but also extends to the congregation and prominent members of the Memphis community and beyond. Yet, amidst all of the mayhem and deception, the power of something greater persists, calling everyone to conscience for their sins.

“Greenleaf” stars Merle Dandridge (“The Night Shift”) as Grace Greenleaf; Keith David (“Community”) as Bishop James Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield (“The Josephine Baker Story”) as Lady Mae Greenleaf; Kim Hawthorne (“Rake”) as Kerissa Greenleaf; Lamman Rucker (“Meet the Browns”) as Jacob Greenleaf; Tye White (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) as Kevin Satterlee; Deborah Joy Winans (“Whitney”) as Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee; Desiree Ross (“Falling Skies”) as Sophia; and Oprah Winfrey (“Selma”) in a recurring role as Mavis McReady.

“Greenleaf” is produced for OWN by Lionsgate Television. Executive producers are Oprah Winfrey, Craig Wright and Clement Virgo.

Sequoia Blodgett

UFE-TV ACCESS caught up with Blodgett began! She began her career as a video director, and worked on set with artist such as Justin Beiber and Jacob Latimore to name a few. She is really passionate about self help, life coaching, life development and realized when she was sick that she had not had the opportunity to explore some of these passions. Her road to entrepreneurism in a unique way: in a hospital bed. In May of 2014, she got really sick and was hospitalized. Confined to her room and prompted to reexamine her professional goals and dreams, Blodgett called a life-coach friend and told him about her idea to create a business; her internet community, 7AM, would focus on personal and intimate relationship development. The idea came from her fascination with life coaching and the psychology behind human relationships.
In July of 2014, Blodgett was teaching photography as the basis of branding at an all-girls tech and entrepreneurship camp across the street from Stanford University. A lot of the students had parents who were venture capitalists and CEOs of major businesses. One of the instructors mentioned Draper University. Completely riveted by the idea of a school for blossoming entrepreneurs, Sequoia applied and was accepted. She was the only student at that time that they invested in. When she is passionate about anything, there is no reservation, she just follows her intuition, and like Nike’s said ‘just do it.’ She packed up everything and moved from L.A. to The valley to attend Draper University, where she was asked to become an entrepreneur in residence in January 2015.
After completing the program, Blodgett came in 2nd place at Pitch Day and received a small angel investment; she was the only person in her class to secure a solid deal. Not only did Tim Draper give her money upfront, but he also agreed to match another investor down the line. How fortunate was that?
While at Draper University, Blodgett developed key relationships and a valuable support system. She had such a gratifying experience that she decided to stay with the program. She currently works as an entrepreneur-in-residence, helping others the same way she was helped, all while building her business. Draper University was approached to be on a reality show, picked up by ABC family, and of course she selected to be apart of the show. “Your shift of your life depends on solely on your perspective.” Dope Quote.
Prior to beginning her life as an entrepreneur, Blodgett was a senior video producer for Clear Channel’s ad agency, Creative Services Group. In addition, she was signed to several production companies where she worked with multiple mainstream artists, directed commercials and shot fashion photography. Blodgett received her Bachelor of Arts in Film/Television Production at Loyola Marymount University. She currently resides in the Bay Area.
UFE-TV asked her what was her typical day like, and she basically said she’s extremely busy, and focused on building. When every business starts up, one week you are developer, sales and marketing, to customer services, to I.T., to social media, to CEO etc., and during this building process sometimes you have to stop all of that to put of fires, and make sure everything is functioning properly. Another question we asked was ‘within the past few months, what was one small thing you changed that made a big impact or positive result? Her immediate answer was “perspective.” Depends on how you look it- affects on what actions you take. “Your shift of your life depends on solely on your perspective.” Dope Quote.

The 90-minute documentary is co-produced, directed and written by entertainment industry heavyweight Andre “Jack Frost” Stephens, who played a major role in the southern Hip-Hop movement and also helped cultivate the careers of Yo Gotti and Kia Shine as well as veteran Hip-Hop journalist Carlton Wade, who’s work is featured in the film.

“This project was a labor of love, but ultimately, it was a story that really needed to be told,”Frost notes.” Wade co-signs by pointing out, “The hardest part was trying to compress almost 50 years of history in two hours. We want to educate and entertain at the same time.”

Memphis-based DJ Jus Borne scored the film and fellow Memphis native and multi-platinum music producer, Drumma Boy, scored and executive produced the accompanying soundtrack.“Without sounding overtly cocky, I feel like I’ve contributed a great deal to the sound and shape of southern music,” the Atlanta resident says. “My work has broken records, dominated national attention, and paved the way for all these new southern producers and rappers coming up in the game now. I am a proud southern child of God from Memphis and support all of our accomplishments wholeheartedly!”

Mommies Who Brunch is an organization that gives mothers a chance to spend a day with other mothers; they can network and relate to. Founder, Jasmine Foreman, came up with the idea of having different events that are specifically for mommies. With so many events that pertain to women, there are not any that focus just around mothers.
“As a new mother, I’ve learned that quality time with myself is extremely important not only for my health, but with raising my daughter. Self-confidence is something that all women lack whether it’s during pregnancy or post-pregnancy and it takes time to rebuild, says Jasmine Foreman.”
The mission and purpose of Mommies Who Brunch is to show mothers that although we have so many other responsibilities, our health and our self-worth is just as important and we are not alone. We hope with this movement, mommies around the nation will be encouraged to embrace pregnancy and to embrace being a mother.

UFE-TV ACCESS was granted to attend to attend the September show for Atl live on the park presented by Shanti Das & Brian Nicols. This show was hosted by Tayie Samuels, and DJ Mars was on the 1’s and 2’s. The line up was super-dope: First to hit the stage was London Young who did an excellent job singing a few of Whitney Houston songs; you know with the band, the show is that much better, and we can honestly say: “she did that.” She definitely would have made Whitney Houston proud!. Next on the bill was Carmen Rodgers, and she sang her heart out, and did a duet with Anthony David. They sounded really good with the Jukebox (the band). Then to close the show out was Quinn and the Jukebox who does alot of gigs around town. He did a lot of classic songs that the crowd was familiar with, and one of my all time favorites he performed was “In the air of the night” by Phil Collins. Stay tuned for next months show which will be the HipHop Awards.

All we have is say about the EMMY’S is WOW!! There is light at the end of the tunnel for those of you who think, your work is in vein, or you are jut working for a paycheck! Viola Davis made history last night, and her speech was priceless. We hope you were all tuned in, as the rest of America was, and congrats to all the nominee’s and winners from last night as well. Everyone works hard, and wants to be recognized and rewarded for their hard work at the end of the day. Don’t give up, and always strive to be a better you!

Again, Viola Davis has made history during Sunday’s 67th annual Emmy Awards, becoming the first black actress to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her role as Annalise Keating on ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder.

We loved these lines: “In my mind, I see a line. And over that line I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me over that line, but I can’t seem to get there no-how. I can’t seem to get over that line,” Davis said, quoting Harriet Tubman in her acceptance speech. “Let me tell you something: the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.”

Actress and Emmy winner Viola Davis emotional proceeded to thank many other actresses of color, including fellow nominee Taraji P. Henson, Scandal star Kerry Washington, and Halle Berry. “Thank you for taking us over that line,” she said. #wontHedoit

Over the weekend, thousands of people flocked to Atlanta to witness the 6th annual ONE Musicfest that took place at Aaron’s Amphitheater in Lakewood on September 12, 2015. Gracing the stage were the talented Ms.Lauryn Hill, The Roots, A$AP Rocky, Wale, Janelle Monae & Wondaland, Raekwon, Ghostface, The Internet, Raury, SZA, Scarface, 8Ball & MJG, Big KRIT and Bun B. In honor of ONE Musicfest’s impressive economical impact on Atlanta, Atlanta’s Councilman member Andre Dickens, presented an official documentation proclaiming September 12th as “ONE Musicfest Day”.
One Musicfest was the only place to see this roster of incredible acts join together for One purpose  – which was to witness a wide variety of sounds, from rock to hip-hop, electro, reggae, funk, disco, house, alternative and soul while having your musical senses stimulated. ONE Musicfest’s main focus was to create a roster of performers that would be enjoyable for multiple generations.
“There is a lack of representation for soul, progressive hip-hop, alternative and rock, represented under one roof, in the format of music festivals in Atlanta”, states J Carter, ONE Musicfest Producer.  “We have noticed that while there are many pockets of individuals that share taste in the same music, rarely do you see them share in this together. ONE Musicfest was created with the idea of ‘music as the universal language’. Over time we aim to grow this fest into a phenomenon and bring together different sectors of individuals through a unique music platform.”
Founded by Jason Carter, ONE Musicfest has been one of Southeast’s largest home-grown, musical arts festival to date including over 10,000 plus attendees. Carter has brought Atlanta music lovers the best and the brightest urban alternative acts performing in a welcoming, hospitable setting, creating an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy and discover music.
ONE Musicfest is known for its interactive block party experience, where guests enjoyed nationally and internationally renown DJs, a food-truck village, vending from local businesses, VIP tents and more.
About ONE Musicfest

“We are extremely disappointed Chris Brown did not show up to our annual Saturday night party during Pure Heat, Atlanta Black Gay Pride weekend. We negotiated a contract in good faith and paid the agreed upon deposit via wire transfer. We fully expected Mr. Brown to appear for our ladies and we are shocked and saddened that he would deny that we had an agreement. At this time, Traxx Girls is reviewing its options with Legal counsel.”
