Watch out Atlanta, Ludacris is now a restaurant owner. -AGAIN
And to anyone who has lived in LA, (specifically the Hollywood area),
it all looks strangely familiar. But I’ll get to that in a minute.
First, the details.
It seems the rapper-slash-actor-and-now-restaurateur’s new restaurant
‘Chicken & Beer’ opens this week (November 17th) inside
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. And considering how
busy that airport is and the amount of time a flight is late, (both
coming and going), it’s a safe bet that Ludi stands to make a tidy
profit from the place. All in all, this was a very smart move on his
part. And Ludacris seemed pretty excited to share the news on his
Instagram stating:
“So there you go everybody. It took me three years but it’s finally
coming to fruition. We are finally here, Chicken & Beer. I seen it
come from my third album, all the way to a restaurant.”
Luda first announced the news in 2012 and it looks like the hard work
is paying off… although…
It all does sure seem to resemble, (in both name, menu, and tone), an
established LA institution called “Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles”.
Now, I’m not saying he stole the concept, but I might be saying he
certainly took a tip or two from that restaurant’s format: The limited
menu of chicken, waffles, beer, and other breakfast items; The simple
name; The plain Jane, down home feeling of the restaurant…
It does feel a little familiar to anyone who has been, as I’m sure
Ludacris himself has been, to one of Roscoe’s seven locations.
Including Inglewood, over by LAX. But whatever.
Of course, it will all come down to the food. And if Chicken & Beer
has great cuisine and the cook is on the money, then that’s all that
matters.
Now, on a separate note — I’ve got this idea for a fast food place
called “McArnold’s”. Only I’m going to have the golden arcs, not
arches. And I would serve food however you wanted it, and…
